The Advanced Specialization Course of Jean Monnet Module ‘EU-Western Balkans Cooperation on Justice and Home Affairs’ (EUWEB) will carry on with its activities on Thursday 21 April (at 2:00 PM) and Friday 22 April 2022 (at 9:45 AM), at ‘Nicola Cilento’ hall and on the ‘Microsoft Teams’ Platform.
Divided into three sessions and structured in two days, the event will address ‘Transnational Crimes, Human Rights and Rule of Law at International and EU Level’. It will start with welcoming speeches (h. 2:30 PM) of the Rector of the University of Salerno, Prof. Vincenzo Loia, and Profs. Giovanni Sciancalepore (Head of Department of Legal Sciences, DSG, UniSa) and Francesco Fasolino (President of the Didactic Council of Department of Legal Sciences, DSG, UniSa).
Afterwards, the opening remarks (h. 2:45 PM) of Profs. Teresa Russo (Associate Professor of International Law, DSG, UniSa, EUWEB Leader), Anna Oriolo (Associate Professor of International Law, DSG, UniSa, EUWEB Key Teacher) and Gaspare Dalia (Lecturer of Comparative Criminal Procedural Law, DSG, UniSa, EUWEB Key Teacher) will introduce the round of speeches.
Session I (Transnational Crimes: Main Features and Trends) is to be held on 21 April 2022, divided into two sub-sessions both chaired by Prof. Anna Oriolo.
The First Sub-Session, I.A (Types of Transnational Crimes, h. 3:00 PM) will be enriched by the remarks of Prof. Christian Ponti (Associate Professor of International Law, Coordinator of the Master Class ‘Organized Crime International Sceneries’, Department of International, Legal and Historical-Political Studies, University of Milan), and Mr. Francesco Rotondo (Deputy Prosecutor at the Anti-Mafia Investigation District Office, DDA, Salerno).
The Second Sub-Session, I.B (Emerging Trends in Transnational Crimes, h. 4:15 PM) will see Prof. Andrea Castaldo (Full Professor of Criminal Law, DSG, UniSa), Mr. Rocco Alfano (Deputy Prosecutor at the Anti-Mafia Investigation District Office, DDA, Salerno) and Prof. Julian Myftari (Lecturer of Philosophy of Law, Albanian University of Tirana) as keynote speakers.
A final debate will close the first part of the International Conference.
Afterwards, the two remaining Sessions are to be held on 22 April 2022.
Session II (Fight Against Transnational Crimes) will be also divided into two sub-sessions.
The First Sub-Session, II.A (International Law and EU Strategies to Counter Transnational Crimes, h. 9:45 AM) will be chaired by Mr. Franco Roberti (Member of the European Parliament, former National Anti-Mafia and Counter-Terrorism Prosecutor) and will be animated by the speeches of Prof. Leonardo Borlini (Associate Professor of International Law, Department of Legal Studies, University ‘Luigi Bocconi’ of Milan) and Mr. Antonio D’Amato (Public Prosecutor and Member of the Italian Superior Council of Judiciary, CSM); while the second one, Sub-Session, II.B (International and EU Tools to Counter Transnational Crimes, h. 11:00 AM) will be chaired by Prof. Andrea Castaldo, with Mr. Franco Roberti, Antonio Laudati (Judge at the Italian Court of Cassation, General Director of Criminal Justice at the Italian Ministry of Justice, former President of the Multidisciplinary Group on Organised Crime at the Council of European Union) and Prof. Roberto Virzo (Associate Professor of International Law, Department of Law, Economy, Management and Quantitative Methods, University of Sannio) as keynote speakers.
Subsequently, it will be the turn of Session III (Transnational Crimes, Rule of Law and Human Rights Based-Approach) allocated into two sub-sessions, both chaired by Prof. Antonino Sessa (Full Professor of Criminal Law, DSG, UniSa).
The First Sub-Session, III.A (Transnational Crimes and Human Rights, h. 3:00 PM) will host the presentations of Prof. Michele Nino (Associate Professor of International Law, DSG, UniSa) and of Dr. Marco Fasciglione (Researcher of International Law, Italian National Research Council, Alternate Member of the Management Board of the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA)).
Lastly, the Second Sub-Session, III.B (Transnational Crimes and Rule of Law, h. 4:15 PM) will be enriched by the speeches of Prof. Anna Oriolo and of Prof. Daniela Marrani (Lecturer of EU Law, DISES, UniSa).
After the speech of Dr. Emanuele Vannata (PhD Candidate, Senior Member of EUWEB JMM Legal Observatory, DSG, UniSa), the event will be properly closed by a final debate.
