The Jean Monnet Module ‘EU-Western Balkans Cooperation on Justice and Home Affairs’ (EUWEB), started on 10 March, will get to the core of the Advanced Specialization Course on Thursday 31 March 2022 at 2.30 PM and Friday 1 April 2022 at 9.30 AM in ‘Nicola Cilento’ hall and on the platform ‘Microsoft Teams’.
Divided into four sessions and structured in two days, the event will address ‘EU ‘Boundaries’ and Challenges in the Field of Asylum and Migration Management: A Look at the Western Balkans’.
After the welcoming speeches and opening remarks by Profs. Teresa Russo (EUWEB Leader), Anna Oriolo and Gaspare Dalia (EUWEB Key Teachers), the first two sessions will take place on 31 March 2022 and will both be chaired by Prof. Giancarlo Scalese (Full Professor of International Law, Department of Economics and Law, University of Cassino and Southern Lazio).
The First Session (The ‘New’ Boundaries and Challenges of EU, h. 3:00 PM) will be enriched by the remarks of Prof. Giuseppe Morgese (Associate Professor of EU Law, Ionic Department in Legal and Economic Systems of Mediterranean, University ‘Aldo Moro’ of Bari) and Profs. Annita Larissa Sciacovelli (Adjunct Professor of International Law, Department of Law, University ‘Aldo Moro’ of Bari) and Maria Eugenia Bartoloni (Full Professor of EU Law, Department of Law, University of Campania ‘Luigi Vanvitelli’).
The Second Session (The Challenges of the Western Balkan Region in Aligning with EU Standards, h. 4:15 PM) will see as speakers Prof. Teresa Russo (Associate Professor of EU Law, DSG, UniSa and EUWEB Leader), Prof. Leonardo Pasquali (Associate Professor of International Law, Leader of Jean Monnet Module ‘Solidarity in EU Law’ (SoEULaw), University of Pisa) and Dr. Oliviero Forti (Responsible for Migration Policies at ‘Caritas Italiana’).
A final debate will close the first part of the international Conference.
Afterwards, the two remaining sessions are to be held on 1 April 2022.
The Third Session (Asylum and International Protection) chaired by Prof. Ennio Triggiani (Professor Emeritus of EU Law, Department of Political Sciences, University ‘Aldo Moro’ of Bari) will be divided into two sub-sessions.
The First Sub-session, III.A (Substantive Aspects, h. 9.30 AM) will see Prof. Francesco Cherubini (Associate Professor of EU Law, Department of Political Sciences, University LUISS ‘Guido Carli’ of Rome) and Dr. Maria Cristina Romano (Lawyer, Association for Juridical Studies on Immigration, ASGI) as speakers, while the second one, III.B (Procedural Aspects, h. 10.30 AM) will be animated by the speeches of Dr. Mariella Santorufo (Deputy Prefect, President of the Territorial Commission of Salerno for the Recognition of International Protection), Dr. Francesca Iervolino (Judge of the Specialised Section ‘Immigration and Asylum” at the Court of Salerno) and Dr. Antonio Valitutti (President of the Chamber at the Italian Court of Cassation).
Subsequently, it will be the turn of the fourth session (EU Strategy Against Irregular Migration, Criminal Victimization and Migrants’ Rights), allocated into three sub-sessions.
The first sub-session, IV.A (Strategies Against Irregular Migration, h. 2:30 PM) will be chaired by Prof. Ana Nikodinovska Krstevska (Dean of the Department of International Relations and EU Law and Professor of EU Law, Faculty of Law, University ‘Goce Delčev’ of Štip, North Macedonia) and will see Prof. Fabio Spitaleri (Associate Professor of EU Policies, Department of Legal, Language, Interpreting and Translation Studies, University of Trieste) and Dario Belluccio (Lawyer, Association for Juridical Studies on Immigration, ASGI) as speakers. The second sub-session, IV.B (Migration Phenomenon Between Victimization and Crime, h. 3:30 PM) will be chaired by Prof. Francesco Mancuso (Full Professor of Philosophy of Law, DSG, UniSa) and will be enriched by the speeches of Profs. Monica Massari (Associate Professor of Sociology, Department of International, Legal and Historical-Political Studies, University of Milan), Olga Koshevaliska (Dean of the Faculty of Law and Professor of Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure Law, University ‘Goce Delčev’ of Štip, North Macedonia), Ana Nikodinovska Krstevska (Dean of the Department of International Relations and EU Law and Professor of EU Law, Faculty of Law, University ‘Goce Delčev’ of Štip, North Macedonia) and Elena Maksimova (Vice-Dean for Education, Assistant Professor of Criminal Law and Criminology, Faculty of Law, University ‘Goce Delčev’ of Štip, North Macedonia). Finally, the third sub-session, IV.C (Migrants’ Rights, h. 5.15 PM) will see as chair Monica Massari (Associate Professor of Sociology, Department of International, Legal and Historical-Political Studies, University of Milan) and as speakers Profs. Heliona Miço (Lecturer of Public Law, Department of Law, University ‘EPOKA’ of Tirana, Albania) and Rossana Palladino (Lecturer of EU Law, DSG, UniSa).
A final debate will properly close the event.
